I begin my 3rd year of my BETWEEN subscription. It’s a treat “to me” that I cherish each Sunday. You are a part of my every Sunday morning with extras throughout some weeks. I just love reading it.

The fireplace is brilliant. I have studied the picture numerous times to really check it out… seeing the beauty in it. And…for free. It really looks great. Nice job, Tim…and Rebecca!

Can’t wait for your family to have this area finished, and you can cross it off your list. Hard work pays off.

Enjoy your week. Northern Colorado will be having almost 60 degree weather for the next 10 days. What has happened to winter? I’m not complaining at all. The snow falls in the mountains where it should fall!

What a beautiful job you have done on the radiator Bec, the lace pattern really is pretty.

How fabulous the new fireplace looks. Tim must be really chuffed with his handiwork. Your room will soon be as beautiful as all your others.

Can’t wait to see all your bookshelves and books in place. You are creating more of a home for you now every day… it must feel so comforting♥️

Sending good wishes to you once again from rainy NZ. We did have sunshine yesterday for the wedding.

Love your writing Rebecca. I've just subscribed . . . as much to support you in all you're doing as it is to read more detail and depth of your story. I admire what you're doing so much. It must be a never-ending slog, every day during the winter months working to bring your lovely home back to the vibrant existence it deserves. You're doing a very valuable thing! I don't think I would have liked to know about the baguettes and croissants you've bought during the whole year! Quite daunting when you express it like that! Maybe one day I'll come and stay as a paying guest. Keep going and enjoying it all, despite the 'grind'. You've made a lovely job of that radiator btw!

Ahhh the old bookcase discussions, I know them well. We went through a similar process ourselves. We ended up with a sort of an ikea hack as my clever husband made kitchen cupboards the base for our now complete birch plywood shelves/dresser. We then papered the Ikea cupboard doors with multicoloured prism wallpaper. I love it. It was a lot of work as there are no nails or screws as it’s all biscuit joints. I’d share a photo but not sure I can ☹️

Good luck with your plans, everything always starts with graph paper….😊

This is just what we’re going to do. Ikea base units for the cupboards and then something bespoke for the doors and shelves. It’ll be a bit more work but I’m sure it will be worth it.

It will 🥰 You will have lots of ideas of your own for sure but happy to send you photo of ours (sorry, I am VERY pleased with ours and G is so clever at putting my ideas into action!)

We converted an internal double garage in our 1980's gas fired farm bungalow into a library/sitting room in 2017 - with a woodburner, and full glazing across the front. We put tall kitchen wall units (less deep) around the base of three walls, then a clever carpenter built worktops and up to ceiling bookshelves out of mdf boards. Still working on the seating arrangements though - three doorways, mix of second hand leather sofas and a bibliochaise won in a competition don't work well for conversation, but are 'characterful'.

I feel I was there with you, a bystander with and without the cameras. I love how you always inspire me to cook, to garden, to just live. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your week, so beautifully written as ever: a friendly contemplative read 🥰

Gosh, I was nervous right along with you! As always, I love reading about the food, yum!! We have big snowbanks here. Before turning onto side streets, we have to inch the front of the car out into the street to peek to see if the way is clear. Nothing will be growing here till May.

Your photos in this post are beautiful - even if you are pleased the fog lifts, those shots… lovely. I sit here reading your post and think, would I ever come up with your cleaver words. (highway of branches) Thank you for helping me forget a -30° day today in Southern Ontario but the sun in shining! SO cold!
