We have had clear skies here in west coast Canada and the moon rise over the gulf islands has been beautiful too, a magical time for harvest, my cosmos are still blooming, what a hard working flower, our three year old grandson brought my husband a present, it was a Conker it now sit on the bedside table, a gift to treasure. Beautifully written as always, evoking everything that autumn contains, and now as I haven’t got chocolate mousse I will look for the chocolate spread at the back of the cupboard, I’m always hungry after reading your journal! Good luck with the last weeks of guest xx

Another lovely Sunday read as I sip my coffee and reminisce about our week in your lovely home. We saw that Moon as we headed home in a taxi from the airport. I can only imagine how gorgeous it was shinning over your glorious spot in the world. Thank you again for sharing your life and your home through written word and and your gracious hosting.I am forever grateful 🙏.

So happy your season is nearly over. You need this time to refuel and have your own time with your family. It seems like it went very quickly, but then I wasn’t the one doing all of the work you do. Enjoyed your writing again this Sunday morning with my tea! Have a good week!

I so resonated to this: "I get nothing I had planned done today. The hours slip away in tending to everyone and everything else. I feel pulled in all directions and none of them are the direction I was hoping to travel." Such a familiar feeling, and you described it well. Meanwhile, I celebrate with you that the long days of constant responsibility for others are drawing to a close and you can anticipate your winter time of rest and restoration.

One more week… can’t wait to hear you have time to relax and rejuvenate and what projects you have planned !

I will be longing for the winter puddings you describe whilst pinching out the leaves in my tomatoes.

Opposite sides of the world!

I’ve just made the most fabulous puttanesca sauce to eat. Dying for the spaghetti to cook so we can scoff it. Made with all the leftover bits from the fridge…the last anchovies, baby capers and olives.

Always the best pulling things together from leftovers.♥️

Nearly there Bec! x

Only one more week, before you relax a LITTLE! the storm Friday was bad we were just approaching Carne when the storm started, so we stopped at a bistro and had our last French meal before the Ferry home. Fish and chips best ever.

Fabulous .I could of been there with you walking through the dark wood.

It was one of my favourite things to do before MS grabbed me.

I’d love to have a wander through your cutting garden selecting the lovely flowers for all your vases.

I worked in a florist for 16 years and loved every minute of it

Leftovers. Be they culinary, or in my case floral. Always a success! Is it because there is no reason , rule or expectation for the result? A freedom to use up what's left in the bucket with a choice of container to suit? The ensuing pleasure (smugness )that nothing has been wasted? Whatever the cause of the result of the satisfaction, it’s a win win situation for me!

Total smugness in using up leftovers to make something gorgeous. It’s one of my favourite things, whether it’s floral or foodie.
