Hi, I had no idea the filming was so stressful for you both, with endless retakes. You are an angel to put yourself through this, for the benefit of us viewers.

I have been offered a gardening job by a local artist while I was visiting her studio today.

June is always Open Studio in Suffolk. It reminded me of the last time I helped in someone else's garden , at your beautiful Château. 🥰🥰🥰

This weeks journal is particularly welcome. It’s a wet and cold snap in Sydney so reading your description of the final arrival of summer helps me escape the awful weather and enjoy a brief respite from it💗

I meant to comment on Patreon about bindweed. It is such a thug but give this a try, it works for me. I don't use chemicals in the garden apart from on bindweed, brambles and hogweed that have grown between plants and digging out would cause too much damage. I keep a small spray bottle filled with roundup and I make a cone of stiff paper or light card and wrap it around the offending weed. With the bind weed I cut the top section and leave it to die on a plant if trying to unravel it would cause too much damage. I pile the living weed inside my cone and spray down into the cone to avoid splash onto adjoining plants. Leave it to dry and once dry remove the cone. It shrivel and dies without harming any other plant.

I think the plants must be so confused by the weather, and I know slugs are part of nature, but I get so irrational when they eat everything that we grow! I shall look forward to seeing you on tv, especially as I know from your journal how unglamorous it really is, stay cool x

I made Boeuf Bourguignon today. Reading your post this morning made me long for France. How I wish we had a baguette from your bakery to mop up the gravy!

Hope your week brings more flowers, less heat, slugs, snails and bindweed and more snatched hours of pleasure.

I look forward to seeing the filming on tv at some point - and remind myself when I do, of you having to cut a flower 18 times in the heat - all for our enjoyment! Thank you!

Well I have just read this whilst eating a warm pain au chocolat (thanks to Aldi and their bake in the oven ones 😂 cheating I know). Sounds a busy week, though the time off for a delicious lunch sounded excellent. Hope your good weather continues x
